Projet Héritage

Collecting memories today to preserve McGregor Lake’s story for tomorrow.

Quand

The Legacy Project is launching as part of the Association’s 80th anniversary celebrations and will continue throughout 2026 and beyond.

Quoi

The Legacy Project is an ambitious community initiative to document and preserve the history of McGregor Lake for future generations.

We are collecting:

  • Historic photographs
  • Maps
  • Documents
  • Artwork
  • Memorabilia
  • Family archives
  • Personal stories and memories

Most importantly, we hope to capture the voices and experiences of those who have a long connection to the lake.

Why It Matters

McGregor Lake has a rich and fascinating history shaped by many communities and generations.

From Indigenous peoples and early settlers to cottage owners, religious communities, Katimavik participants, and countless families who have spent summers here, every story helps build a more complete picture of our shared heritage.

How You Can Help

Do you have:

  • Old photographs?
  • Maps or documents?
  • Artwork or memorabilia? (Photos of such are welcome!)
  • Family stories?
  • Knowledge of someone with a long connection to the lake?

We would love to hear from you.

Sign up to share materials, suggest a storyteller, or volunteer to help conduct interviews.

Our Goal

The committee’s objective is to create a digital book documenting the history of McGregor Lake using the materials and stories gathered from the community.
